研究方向

(一)單純皰疹病毒的致病機轉:單純皰疹病毒(Herpes simplex virus)可引起原發性及潛在性感染,第一型(HSV-1)主要引起口腔感染,而第二型(HSV-2)主要為生殖道皰疹。本研究室主要利用病毒學、免疫學、細胞及分子生物學等技術,探討單純皰疹病毒的致病機轉,包括:(1) 病毒感染口腔細胞之機轉,感染細胞過程中病毒醣蛋白及細胞接合器之交互作用,及對訊息傳遞的影響;及(2)單純皰疹病毒與牙周病及牙周致病菌之間可能的關係。

(二) 檳榔嚼食對微生物及免疫的影響:嚼食檳榔與罹患口腔鱗狀上皮細胞癌(oral squamous cell carcinoma)和口腔黏膜下纖維化(oral submucous fibrosis)具 有很高的相關性。本研究室主要探討:檳榔對口腔微生物及口腔組織的影響,比較檳榔嚼食與否,對牙周健康的影響,利用微生物及分子生物學的方法,了解檳榔對 口腔微生物族群的影響;探討嚼食檳榔對免疫系統可能的影響,分析檳榔嚼塊成份對嗜中性白血球及單核球細胞功能之影響,並探討免疫調控基因之表現及功能與檳 榔嚼食相關之口腔癌化過程之間的相關性,進一步了解檳榔引起口腔癌化相關之免疫基因的改變及可能參與的危險因子及分子機轉。
